Scared ? .. maybe you should be…

Ok, so i have a fairly low opinion of the this countries handling of the so-called ‘terror’ threats.
Sure, some people have made and exploded bombs – true, but that does not mean i believe that the World Trade Centre fell down because a plane hit it.
So, i find it annoying as hell that the supposed added security our nation imposes upon us includes such stupidity as being disallowed to carry bottled water onto a plane.
It was with great glee then (and admittedly – a huge amount of shock) that i boarded an international flight between Geneva and Gatwick carrying a four inch lock knife in my hand luggage last week.

Now, at the time, I was unaware that i had neglected to re-pack the knife in my hold luggage, and passed through completely oblivious. Had i been pulled-up, im sure my fate would have been far less entertaining than this story is now, however, i wasnt.
I passed through two sets of security, including the xray scanners – note that i was asked to remove the laptop from my bag, but not the lethal hunting knife – and sat at the gate for an hour before boarding my flight.
Now, i dont think what i did was big, or clever, but it seems obvious to me that the apparent security we believe we live in is nothing but smoke and mirrors, provided by a state that reigns supreme on maintaining a culture of fear.
Open your eyes, breathe the air, live life.
Dont worry about what other people may be doing or ‘planning’ to do.
Get on with it. Life is too short.
